Daltonganj, April 5: Palamu Superintendent of Police Chandan Kumar Sinha and his entourage took a detour of the town in the early night of Monday.

Speaking to lagatar24.com today, Sinha said he and his officers, including assistant superintendent of police K Vijay Shankar and others did a bike riding in the town ‘verifying the procession route of the Ram Navami festival.’

The SP said he saw the originating point of the procession as well as its culmination point. The crowd is at both points, he admitted.

On being asked why he chose early night here when this town has a maximum of crowd and congestion, the SP said, “We deliberately chose this early night to see the volume of the congestion. There is no road or passage where the issue of congestion or crowd is not present.”

“Our detour helped us in developing a plan for introducing or rushing our bike patrolling even in packed alleys. It’s festival season. There may come a moment when only a police bike patrol is possible, and in that case, our men on bikes will be there without wasting any time,” reiterated Sinha

The SP agreed that there are three or four locations in the town that are ‘ultra-sensitive.’ “We will be having extra cover at those places. We will be pushing here our ready to control bike squad of the cops. He declined to share what more measures would be enforced in ultra-sensitive locations,” he said.

The SP admonished dubious people not to get into any misadventure against law as then stringent action will be taken against the offenders of law no matter who they are.

“We also noticed places where if CCTV cameras are installed then it would further add teeth to the police in the maintenance of law and order.

Palamu civil and police administrations are all out to have a peaceful and incident-free Ram Navami. It has asked people to celebrate the festival in all religious piety but not in contravention of the guidelines issued by the state government which is more to ensure public health amidst the lurking dangers of the Coronavirus.

The SP said, “Our boys are keeping a strict vigil on the messages and write-ups coming on various social media platforms. We believe people will not do anything which subverts law as then there will be a whole big lot of problems for the wrongdoers.”

‘Delete any text on the spur of the moment which is harmful to peace and harmony’ is the mantra of the police in Palamu as any forwarding of it is sure to land many in big trouble, according to the SP.

According to sources, there will be no deviations or detours from the procession’s authorised route.

But according to insiders, there is a conflict of passage along with Kunjra Patti in the town, with one section wanting to negotiate it and the other section objecting.

The civil and police administrations are both preoccupied with the problem, and an agreeable solution is being sought.
