Woman human trafficker surrenders before Jharkhand NIA court

Ranchi, April 11: Carrying Rs 1 lakh reward on her head, the human trafficker, Sunita Devi, today surrendered before the NIA court, which forwarded her to 14-day judicial custody.

 

Sunita is the wife of Pannalal, a notorious human trafficker whom the police had arrested on June 18, 2019.

The couple is residents of Murhu, a place in Khunti, which is about 60km from Jharkhand capital.  It is being alleged that the couple is involved in human trafficking since 2003 and by this illegal business, it has amassed property of Rs 100 crore.

 

It is alleged that the couple smuggles poor children from Jharkhand and Odisha either in the name of providing them jobs or providing them an opportunity to give a quality life.

 

An FIR was registered against the couple in the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of Khunti on 6 August 2018. Later, the NIA took over the FIR and registered a case on March 2, 2020. On April 9, the NIA declared the reward on the head of Sunita.
