Dhanbad, April 21: While the students of the Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) were already on a warpath over the new exam regulation, now, the BCA, B.Sc computer application course confusion has fueled the fire further.

The students alleged that they had selected the BCA course at the time of admission but now in the examination form for Semester-1, they are being given only the option of the B.Sc computer application course. Option of BCA course is not appearing on the online examination form of Semester-1.

The students under the banner of AJSU Chatra Sangh, National Students Union of India (NSUI) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) held a massive demonstration against this irregularity. They submitted a memorandum to PK Roy Memorial College principal Dr BK Sinha and BBMKU admission cell chairman Dr Navita Gupta.

Amid the chaos, BBMKU Vice-Chancellor Dr Mukul Narayan Dev when contacted today (Thursday) morning, said that he had no information about the protest of students over the new regulation.

“However, it has come to my cognizance that some confusion has prevailed over the BCA and B.Sc computer application course in UG Semester-1. I will come to Dhanbad tomorrow and solve all issues of the students,” said the VC.

Dr Mukul Narayan Dev is the vice-chancellor of Vinoba Bhave University (VBU) Hazaribagh and lives there. He holds the additional charge of BBMKU Dhanbad.

“New regulation is not bad and students will have to obtain passing marks (40%) in both internal and external examinations,” he further said.

Meanwhile, the agitating students alleged that they have been cheated by the college as well as university authorities. “Students took admission in BCA after having seen the course option in PK Roy Memorial College Website and Chancellor portal. Even on the admission payment slip and registration slip, the course’s name is BCA. But now, the authorities said that B.Sc in computer application course has been launched in the college and not BCA,” said  Vishal Mahto of AJSU Chhatra Sangh.

ABVP district coordinator Anshu Tiwari and NSUI president Gopal Krishan Choudhary said that they will announce the course of agitation after meeting with the vice-chancellor.
