Ranchi, April 23: A minor girl was gangraped by minors at Khunti’s Tapkara.
The incident that took place on Wednesday came to the fore after the victim’s family registered an FIR and police arrested five of the six accused in age group 9 to 15 today.
The girl became a victim of gang rape while returning from a marriage function.
As the victim and accused were minors, at first, an attempt was made to resolve the matter by Panchayat but it did not materialise and the help of the police was taken.
A locality resident said the incident was a fallout of the girl’s dispute with the boys.
“Following a dispute when the girl was returning to her home, six boys abducted her and took her to a secluded place to commit rape. After the girl somehow managed to return to her home she narrated the ordeal,” the resident said.
Superintendent of Police of the district Aman Kumar confirmed the incident and arrest.
“Statement of the girl was recorded before the magistrate and primary investigation suggested commitment of the crime. We are waiting for a medical report also”, S.P Kumar said.
