Mumbai, April 27: Actress Deepika Padukone will serve on the competition jury at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022, according to the organisers.
The 75th edition of the prestigious festival, which will take place from May 17 to 28, will be led by French actor Vincent Lindon, according to the festival’s official Twitter account.
Padukone is a member of the eight-person jury that will award the Palme d’or to one of the 21 films in contention during the closing ceremony on Saturday, May 28. Rebecca Hall, Swedish actor Noomi Rapace, Italian actor-director Jasmine Trinca, famed Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, French filmmaker-actor Ladj Ly, filmmaker Jeff Nichols, and Norwegian director-screenwriter Joachim Trier are among the other members of the jury.
“Will strive to take the best possible care of the films of the future,” Lindon said the jury in a statement, posted on the official website of the festival.
Earlier, Padukone was the chairperson of Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival for two years.
