Dhanbad, April 27: The newly elected Vinoba Bhave University Post Graduate Teachers Association (VBU PGTA) Hazaribagh has decided to meet vice-chancellor (VC) Dr Mukul Narayan Dev over long-pending demands including the promotion of teachers.
VBU PGTA vice-president Dr Sukalyan Moitra said that the newly elected new body at its first meeting identified the pending demands of teachers and resolved to hand over a memorandum to the VC for immediate implementation.
The VC said that the most burning issue is the gratuity payment of two demised teachers. Dr Abhay Kumar Mishra and Dr Prem Ranjan Bharti of the 2008 batch died but their family have not been paid gratuity to date.

There is no dispute of old or new pension schemes in the payment of gratuity. Moreover, teachers in other universities of the state who died, and their families have been paid but payment of both the demised teachers Abhay Kumar Mishra and Prem Ranjan Bharti in VBU is pending.
“So VBU PGTA would request the vice-chancellor to clear the gratuity payment of both the teachers without any delay,” said Prof Moitra.
VBU PGTA said the 6th and 7th pay fixation of some teachers has not been done so far. “So, we would request the vice-chancellor to look into the matter on a priority basis and take steps for remedial issues.”
“Promotion issue of VBU teachers is also pending in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) for a long time. Teachers body would demand to get the hurdle cleared so that teachers get their due (promotion) timely,” the association said.
“The body would also request the VC to ensure PhD benefit payment to teachers from this month,” Prof Moitra said, adding that the association would extend full cooperation to the vice-chancellor in the implementation of his ambitious projects in the university.
