Jamshedpur, May 2: IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre withdrew the heatwave alert from Jharkhand as most districts notched maximum temperature below 40 degrees Celsius.

Rain triggered by a strong Nor’wester which hit several parts of the state on Sunday night resulted in an abrupt fall in day’s reading in most places across the state.

Met data suggested that over 50 per cent of weather observatories across the state recorded rain last night.

Barkagaon in Hazaribagh district recorded the highest rainfall of over 40 mm followed by Jarmindi which received 35 mm of rain.

Godda, Dumka, Jamshedpur, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Giridih, Khunti and several other places experienced thunderstorms and rain triggered by the season’s second summer saviour Norwester

Satellite pictures suggested that a  cyclonic circulation over southeast Uttar Pradesh and neighbourhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level persists.

A trough from northwest Rajasthan to north Chhattisgarh now runs from northwest Rajasthan to Manipur across south Uttar Pradesh, south Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and south Assam at 0.9 km above mean sea level.

The maximum reading has plummeted to around 36- 37 degrees Celsius in Ranchi and Jamshedpur. Bokaro, Giridih, Godda and Garhwa also recorded similar day’s reading.

Daltonganj and its adjoining areas recorded over 40 degrees for the second consecutive day today.

The Ranchi Met Centre has issued a forecast of thunderstorms and rain in different parts of the state till May 6, Friday.
