Ranchi, May 30: The candidates trying to fill out forms for the post of Ophthalmic Assistants under the advertisement taken out by the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) have been facing severe issues after the application of all applicants for the post were rejected.
Notably, the NRHM had released vacancies for the recruitment to various posts along with 75 posts of Ophthalmic Assistants in February. However, due to a discrepancy in the advertisement by NRHM, all the forms for the post of Ophthalmic Assistants have been rejected.
As per applicant Santosh Kumar, officials have claimed that the applications were rejected because the requirement and eligibility set for the post were wrong. Notably, applications were invited for Ophthalmic Assistant, but the qualification was set to be Optometry.
Vikram Mahto, another such candidate added, that along with this, one-year work experience was also required. The question arises that only courses for Ophthalmic Assistants are available in the government colleges of the state instead of optometry. It is also noteworthy, that a post for an optometrist was also available in the list of vacancies, for which the required eligibility is a degree in Optometry.
When enquired, NRHM officials had also said to candidates that the responsibility of conducting examination for appointment to this post has been given to SEMS. Officials at SEMS say that the form has been rejected based on the guidelines given to them. The SEMS officials have also suggested that students file an objection to NHM if they are facing problems.
After the rejection of the form, the candidates have now registered their objection with the officials of the Health Department. Some students have also met the campaign director of NHM in this regard.
The campaign director has assured them that the complaints from the candidates provided in writing are considered. However, the candidates say that once the examination is conducted, nothing can be done. Meanwhile, officials at Jharkhand NHM were unavailable for clarification in this regard.
