Dhanbad, June 6: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) team of Dhanbad arrested a Sub Inspector (SI) Nilesh Kumar Singh, posted at Loyabad police station of the district, red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a complainant at Court More of the city under Sadar police station in the afternoon today.
ACB deputy superintendent of police Dhanbad branch told media persons that for filing counter case diary, Sub-Inspector Nilesh Kumar Singh had demanded Rs 50,000 from the complainant Sandesh Kumar Chouhan, the resident of Loyabad.
After one month when the SI put pressure for paying, Chouhan informed ACB Dhanbad. The ACB got confirmation of the case and laid a trap to arrest the sub-inspector red-handed. On the directive of ACB officers, the complainant Sandesh Kumar Chouhan called the sub Inspector to Dhanbad Court More from Loyabad police station (around 10 km away) for payment.
Sub Inspector Nilesh Kumar Singh reached Court More at the scheduled time in police uniform. As Sandesh Kumar Chouhan paid him the cash amount (Rs 15,000), the ACB team under Deputy Superintendent of Police Nitin Khandelwal arrested him on the spot.
“Sub Inspector Nilesh Kumar Singh was arrested for taking bribe in connection with case no. 22/22 of Loyabad police station. For the time being, he is being interrogated at the ACB police station. Further action will be taken after completion of the interrogation,” the DSP said.
