New Delhi, Jan 2: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday demanded the death penalty for five men who dragged a 20-year-old woman for kilometres after her scooty was hit by their car.

Later, the woman’s body was found on the road without clothes and with a broken back and legs in Delhi’s Kanjhawala.
Delhi CM said that the strictest sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) should be slapped against the perpetrators in the Kanjhawala death case.
He added that he spoke to Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and asked him to take exemplary action against the culprits.

Taking to Twitter Arvind Kejriwal said, “Spoke to Hon’ble LG on the Kanjhawala incident. Requested him to take exemplary action against culprits, strictest sections of IPC shud be slapped against them. No leniency shud be shown even if they have high political connections. He assured me that he will take strong action.”
Earlier on Monday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer District) Harendra K Singh said that five people have been arrested in the Kanjhawala case and a case of 304 A (Death due to negligence) has been registered against the perpetrators.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena tweeted that he was shocked at the monstrous insensitivity of the perpetrators and was monitoring the case.

“Even as every possible support/help and beyond, to the family of the victim will be ensured, I appeal to all to not resort to opportunistic scavenging. Let’s together work towards a more responsible and sensitive society,” he said in another tweet.
An eyewitness told the police that the car driver dragged women’s body, which got entangled in the undercarriage, for 18 to 20 km.
The woman lived with her mother and younger siblings in Aman Vihar in Northwest Delhi. Her father died some years ago.

The victim’s mother, alleged the men had sexually assaulted her. “Her clothes cannot be completely torn off. Her entire body was naked when they found her. I want a full investigation and justice,” she said.
