Ranchi, Jan 2: The Ranchi University Vice Chancellor Dr Prof Ajit Kumar Sinha on Monday said that the University plans to organise an International Tribal Festival this year in collaboration with six nations. The aim behind this is to promote the tribal students and to coordinate an exchange programme of different tribal cultures and food practices.
The RU VC said this during an interactive session while explaining his plans for Ranchi University in the New Year. He further added, “Countries including Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangkok among others will participate in the festival. On the other hand, tribal students from Indian states including Nagaland, Chhattisgarh and Odisha among others will be present in the festival representing their culture, food and lifestyles. As a result of this festival, we plan to integrate student exchange programmes for tribal students here.”
Along with this, the university is also set to work on and conduct a National Sports Convention and invite players from all over the country in order to not only encourage budding sportsmen and women but also to provide opportunities to the well-established sports persons in the state.
VC Sinha, when inquired about the upcoming session and establishment of NEP 2020 in the university said, “We plan to begin our new session from July 1 this year, after results of CBSE, ICSE and JAC are out. This year, we will be taking admissions through JET (Joint Entrance Examinations) to be conducted by the NTA on a national level, along with a state-level entrance examination for students in the state.”
The University has notably readied the Academic, Sports and Examination Calendar for the year 2023, which the VC plans to follow ‘quite literally,’ said the VC.
Furthermore, the VC informed that he has realised that several universities in the state still have no knowledge of NEP and its syllabi. He plans to organise rigorous training programmes in January for teachers in all state and private universities to educate them on NEP and inform them of the curriculum.
Later, when asked about NAAC, he said that he has put in the work and made improvements to it. He believes that the NAAC gradation will be done by May.
On the question of the new RU land, the VC said that around three presentations have already been shared. A final presentation will soon be done on Jan 6, while another meeting with the Principal and Chief Secretaries will be held on Jan 15.
The VC also has plans to modernise the examination department and to introduce the DigiLocker App as an application to store important documents of each student. He said he is also working to provide students with the remaining mark sheets and certificates and offering promotions and appointments through the related departments.
