Karnataka, Jan 13: The Hubbali-Dharwad Police said on Thursday that they are inquiring into the matter of a security breach during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow on January 12, ahead of the inaugural ceremony of the National Youth Festival in Karnataka city.

“We’re inquiring if he (the boy) was a local and had jumped out of enthusiasm. He was stopped by security personnel immediately. Interrogation on. Prima facie, it doesn’t seem like a breach of security,” said CP Raman Gupta Gupta.

“There was no such breach in the prime minister’s security cover. He is a naive young boy and must have done it out of enthusiasm. But still, we will take appropriate legal action,” he added.

During the roadshow, a young boy broke through a barricade and ran towards PM Modi’s car to give him a garland.

As per information, the entire street where the incident occurred was secured by the Special Protection Group (SPG) and the entire area was properly sanitised by security agencies.

When the incident took place, PM Modi was standing on the running board of the moving car waving at the people lining on both sides of the road as he drove from the airport to the Railway Sports Ground.

PM Modi stretched his hand to accept the garland but could not reach out to the boy. The garland was taken by security agents escorting him on the route and handed it over to the PM, who placed it inside the car.

The police and traffic officials on duty immediately pulled the boy back and took him away.
