New Delhi: Popular actor Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday in connection with the stampede at Sandhya Theatre during the premiere of his film “Pushpa-2.” The tragic incident, which occurred on December 4, claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman, Revathi, while her son remains hospitalized.

Actor Taken into Custody

A police team led by the assistant commissioner arrived at Arjun’s residence to take him into custody. Amid the presence of his family, the actor was escorted to a police vehicle and subsequently transported to the station for further investigation.

Incident Details

The stampede occurred during Allu Arjun’s appearance at the theatre, where a massive crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the star. Poor crowd management, coupled with inadequate security arrangements, led to a chaotic situation, resulting in lathi charges by police to disperse the crowd.

“The theatre management failed to implement additional security measures or create separate entry and exit routes for the actor’s team despite being informed of their arrival,” police officials stated.

Previous Arrests

Earlier, three individuals, including a co-partner of the theatre, were arrested in connection with the incident. The police had registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under Sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on a complaint filed by the family of the deceased woman.

Legal Developments

Allu Arjun had filed a plea to quash the FIR and sought a stay on all legal proceedings, including his arrest. However, the authorities proceeded with the investigation, leading to his arrest.

The tragic incident has raised questions about crowd management and accountability during high-profile public events, with many demanding stricter safety protocols in the future.
