Mumbai, Feb 8: Pravin Kumar Sobti, best known for his portrayal of Bheem in BR Chopra’s Mahabharat, has died. In December of last year, he turned 74. Pravin was in the midst of a financial crisis in his final days, and he had sought assistance from the government. He was also afflicted with health problems.
Pravin Kumar Sobti has appeared in a number of films, including Amitabh Bachchan’s Shehenshah and Dharmendra’s Loha, in addition to his performance as Bheem in 1988. Aaj Ka Arjun, Yudh, Mohabbat Ke Dushman, Karishma Kudrat Kaa, Ajooba, and Ghayal are just a few of his other flicks. Barbarik was his most recent feature, released in 2013. Pravin has appeared in nearly 50 films and television shows.

Pravin later abandoned acting to pursue a career in politics. In 2013, he ran for the Delhi Assembly on the Aam Aadmi Party’s platform. He eventually quit AAP.
Pravin Kumar was an Asian award-winning athlete before turning to acting. In the 1960s and 1970s, he represented India in a number of Asian games. Later, he competed in the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics. He competed for India in the 1968 Mexico Olympics and the 1972 Munich Olympics. Pravin began his career in the Border Security Force as a Deputy Commandant (BSF). He competed in sports such as hammer and discus throw.
