New Delhi, Feb 8: India’s daily Covid-19 tally continued to decline on Tuesday, with 67,597 new cases of the coronavirus reported in the last 24 hours, according to the Union health ministry.
The death toll from the covid-19 has risen by 1,188 to 5,04,062, according to the ministry’s daily bulletin.
The aggregate caseload has now reached 42,339,611, according to figures from the ministry.
The positive rate has dropped to 5.02 percent as the number of cases has gradually decreased. According to ministry data, it was 7.25 percent on Monday. The weekly positive rate is currently at 8.30 percent.
The active caseload is 9,94,891, accounting for 2.35 percent of all cases. With 4,08,40,658 persons recovering from the disease so far, the nationwide recovery rate has risen to 96.46 percent. In a 24-hour period, there were 1,80,456 recoveries.
India saw a multifold increase in daily Covid-19 cases earlier this year when the Omicron version was discovered. It went below 1 lakh instances on Monday, when the country saw an increase of 83,876 cases in a single day.
The number had surpassed the 3-lakh barrier at the time of the peak. Last year, during the second wave of the virus, the number of those infected had surpassed 4 lakh at the time of peak.
