Ranchi, Jan.7: It has been observed that hospitals across the state respond very slowly when times come to take care of patients reaching to the health centres for treatment and many times delay turns a simple case into a critical one.
Thus Additional Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Singh has directed deputy commissioners (DCs) of all the districts to organise mock drills to check the preparedness of hospitals across the state to take care of patients suffering from Covid-19.
During the drill, ACS Singh, asked the DCs to see how effectively oxygen beds, ICU beds, ventilators are being used and what are the hassles before the quick response in the case of an emergency.
Before the mock drill, the ACS has asked the DCs to develop proper infrastructure to face the peak of the third wave of the pandemic which has already taken the entire state in its grip with maximum positivity rate in the state capital.
The infrastructure which the ACS has asked to keep ready includes oxygen sources including oxygen concentrator, PSA Plants, cylinder besides others ready to supply oxygen other than the adequate number of beds to take care of patients with moderate and severe symptoms.
The ACS also asked the DCs to establish coordination with the management of private hospitals and give them a direction to give priority to Covid-19 patients to ensure availability to the sufficient number of beds for the treatment of Covid-19 infected persons.
The direction has come at a situation when complains regarding the delay in hospitalization of Covid-19 patients came from RIMS, where it was alleged that Covid-19 patients had to wait for an hour in an ambulance, and at Sadar Hospital where it took around 20 minutes to ensure care to a lady who delivered a baby in an ambulance after getting trapped in a traffic jam at KantaToli in the heart of the state capital.
