Ranchi, May 30: The selection of Aditya Sahu as BJP candidate from Jharkhand for the Rajya Sabha election has not surprised many as it was not the first time the party has paved the path for an upper house from Jharkhand.

After Deepak Prakash, Mahesh Poddar and Sameer Oraon it is time for common workers like Sahu to get a chance to represent Jharkhand in Rajya Sabha.

A post-graduate in Commerce from Ranchi University, Sahu has extended his service as a professor at Ram Tahal Choudhary College in Ormanjhi till 2019. His name had also surfaced as a Lok Sabha candidate from Ranchi parliamentary seat when the BJP had denied a ticket to veteran BJP leader Ram Tahal Choudhary without taking the latter into confidence and leaving the letter unhappy.

Sahu is the general secretary of the state unit of BJP and is easily accessible to all. He has been active in the party since 1980. Starting from his political career as a common BJP worker he rose to the position of state general secretary to the party before working as president of Ranchi district rural unit of BJP and a member of the state executive committee.

According to a common worker, his family comprises his wife Lalita Sahu, two elder brothers, Kaleshwar Sahu and Meghnath Sahu, son Nitesh Sahu and daughter Ritu Sahu and all are associated with BJP.

A member of the state executive committee and councillor of ward 26 of Ranchi Municipal Corporation Arun Kumar Jha said after his selection as a candidate for Rajya Sabha all common workers having no godfather in the politics are enthused.

“Sahu Ji is not only local but vocal on all issues related to common people and in his direction party workers have always performed well,” Jha said.

With the selection of Sahu as BJP candidate, all speculations taking a selection of BJP national vice president and former Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das and former congress Jharkhand in-charge who joined BJP before UP election, R.P.N.Singh, as BJP’s Rajya Sabha candidate came to an end.
