Ranchi/New Delhi, May 30: The Election Commission of India granted more time to Basant Soren, the brother of Dumka MLA and Chief Minister Hemant Soren after he requested more time to file his updated response related to his mining company.
According to the report, MLA Basant Soren’s mining company Grand Mining was the subject of a hearing before the Election Commission of India on Monday. The BJP had written to Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais, alleging that MLA Basant Soren had abused his office. Basant Soren’s disqualification was urged in a memorandum signed by BJP leaders.
Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais then issued this memorandum to the Election Commission. On this subject, Soren has already responded to the Election Commission of India. He stated in his response that he had not withheld any facts from the commission. The affidavit provided during the election also mentions that.
The Election Commission has earlier granted two weeks to Chief Minister Hemant Soren to respond to a complaint filed in his name about a mining lease in Angada and has summoned him to appear before the commission on June 14.
