Daltonganj, June 18: Amid the nationwide protests against Agnipath Recruitment Scheme in which many railway stations across the country have been attacked by the angry agitators, railway stations in the Garhwa district are maintaining a high level of security and vigil. It stays calm but the police there in Garhwa are still on alert.
On Friday, June 17, when Daltonganj railway station saw unruly squatting of youths on the railway tracks and train services remained crippled for around 90 minutes, back in Garhwa, rail services remained peaceful and incident-free.
Notably, Garhwa district’s Nagar Untari railway station is barely 12 kilometres away from UP’s Wyndhamganj railway station. Rail violence erupted in UP but the railway station of Jharkhand’s Garhwa remained cool and calm.
Garhwa rail services remained interrupted despite such proximity and contiguity to UP.
Lagatar24.com spoke to Garhwa SP Anjani Kumar Jha to know how he and his boys kept rail services incident-free in their district.
“We remained in touch with the RPF in the bordering railway stations of UP. As regards our vigil and alertness at our railway station, we made a combined concerted effort,” said the SP.
The SP said there is another railway station Ramna in Garhwa district whose distance from UP’s Wyndhamganj is around 23 or 24 kilometres and they kept our vigil tight here as well.
Asked if this vigil and alertness will remain in place for more days, Anjani Kumar Jha said, “We are always in readiness to deal with the situation.”
The SP further said, “We were also on the lookout if hordes of youths were travelling by trains to Ranchi as then it could have meant problem in Ranchi. However, we did not find anything like that.”
