New Delhi, June 30: The All India Football Federation issued a statement on Thursday regarding the recall of a coaching official for the Indian women’s U17 football squad. The staff member was suspended pending further inquiry, though AIFF has not released the names of the individuals.
From June 22 to June 26, the India U-17 team competed in Italy’s 6th Torneo Female Football Tournament. The girls’ squad suffered losses to teams from Chile and Italy.
“An event of misconduct has been reported in the U-17 women’s team, currently on an exposure tour to Europe. The AIFF follows a zero-tolerance policy on indiscipline. As an initial action, the Federation has provisionally suspended the individual pending further investigation,” a statement from the CoA said.
“The AIFF has asked the concerned individual to stop all contact with the team, return to India immediately, and be physically present for further investigations upon his arrival,” the statement further added.
In order to be ready for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup that the nation will host from October 11 to October 30, the team is presently travelling Europe. In Group A of the U17 Women’s World Cup in India 2022, India is grouped with the United States, Morocco, and Brazil. On October 11, India plays their first game of the season against the United States. On October 14, and October 17, they play Morocco and Brazil.
