Dhanbad: Nov 1: Three bike-borne armed criminals fired five bullets on an Airtel Payment Bank distributor and snatched his bag which reportedly contained Rs. 10 lakh. The incident happened near Birsa Munda Park under Barbadda police station at around 1.30 pm on Monday.
The victim, identified as Jhari Prasad, distributor of Airtel Payment Bank Loharbarba branch, was admitted at Asarfi Hospital. The doctors said that his condition was critical. Five bullets were operated from different parts of his body.
Dinesh Rajak, another staff member of Airtel Payment Bank, who was driving the bike, told police that Jhari Prasad was sitting in the back seat. They were going to deposit cash in the Bank of India (BOI) Barbadda branch from the Flipkart office when three criminals on a bike appeared all of a sudden and fired on Jhari Prasad. He fell on the road and the criminals fled away with the bag that had the money.
Rajak informed his colleagues in the Airtel Payment Bank Loharbarwa branch about the incident.
“As we reached the spot, Jhari Prasad was lying on the roadside. We took him to nearby Asarfi Hospital for treatment,” said one of the staff of the bank named
Satya.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Amar Kumar Pandey reached the hospital on receiving the information. He said that the incident is being probed.
“Only after proper interrogation, the police would be able to speak about how this incident occurred and how much money was snatched,” he said.
