Daltonganj, Nov 1: Abhishek Pandit alias Abhishek Pandey (22), a resident of Banda district in UP was caught by Palamu police in UP for a serious crime committed in Palamu on Oct.5, 2021. He is suspected to have information about the crime that happened in the Haidernagar police station area.
Pandit is a BA in the second division with History and Political Science from a college in Uttar Pradesh.
Palamu SP Chandan Kumar Sinha said that the youth is a criminal protege of Jharkhand’s gangsters Sujit Sinha and Aman Sahu. He described Pandit as a planner and strategist for the gangsters.
Sources said that the link between these two gangsters is rooted in UP as well.
Pandey’s name was first revealed by a Garhwa based criminal, Amit Chowdhury, who is in Ranchi jail for a criminal case lodged against him with the Argora police station.
Chowdhury, in his confession, dropped the name of Pandit saying that he knows who and how the fire opened at the railway construction site at Semarsote under Haidernagar police station on Oct.5.
The SP said that Chowdhury’s dropping of Pandit’s name had substance. Police have recovered his cell phone which is a key to the crime committed in Haidernagar.
He further explained that Pandit’s name did not come up in the FIR lodged with the Hariharganj police station by Aman Dutta of Ashoka Buildcon Company Ltd. on Oct.5 regarding the shoot out for extortion in which the company’s civil engineer Virender Kumar was hurt badly.
The engineer Virender Kumar of Ashoka Buildcon Company Ltd. engaged in constructing drainage near railway pole number 1/362 at Semarsote was shot by two unidentified shooters with the sole intention and motive of extortion from the Ashoka Buildcon Company Ltd. which is laying down the third railway line between Japla and Mohammadganj.
The engineer had sustained bullet injuries in his thigh and waist. He remained under treatment for a considerable period of time.
It is being said that Pandit has told the Palamu police that he knew how and why the incident happened.
The SP further said that the youth’s statements can help police to further unfold and bust this shoot-out case.
