New Delhi, Aug 22: Ajay Nayak, a former election official for the Bihar government, has been chosen to serve as the returning officer for the Hockey India elections, which will take place on October 9.
The decision was determined at a meeting between the country’s existing hockey administrators, the Committee of Administrators (CoA), and representatives of the International Hockey Federation (FIH).
Seif Ahmed, the interim president of the FIH, CEO Thierry Weil, and members of the CoA Justice Anil R Dave, SY Quraishi, and Zafar Iqbal were present at the meeting. The assistant returning officer has been named as AK Majumdar.
“They will be assuming their positions with immediate effect,” the national federation said in a statement.
The two-person FIH delegation was in the capital to have talks about the future and avoid suspending Hockey India, which is currently under the CoA under the Delhi High Court’s order.
