Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, commenting on the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam (Baisaran Valley), said that India must now be ready for a dual challenge — dealing with both Pakistan and China.
Warning To The Modi Government
Yadav warned the Modi government that raising questions against Pakistan would inevitably require confronting China as well. “If you look towards PoK, you will have to prepare to deal with China too,” he asserted.
He demanded that the government take strong action regarding the Pahalgam attack and expressed full support for any decisive steps. “Our soldiers are urgently needed at the borders. We are facing a two-front challenge: Pakistan and China,” he said, accusing the government of trying to divert public attention. He pointed out the anger among the families of the victims towards government officials and ministers.
Delay In Aid To Victims Criticized
Highlighting the delayed response, he said, “It took one and a half hours for anyone to reach the victims. No one visited the injured at the hospitals initially.” He mocked the government’s claim of aspiring to become a “Vishwaguru” (global leader).
On Suspension Of Indus Waters Treaty
Speaking about India’s decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, Yadav questioned its impact: “Will Pakistan be finished by suspending the Indus Waters Treaty? We don’t have that technical knowledge; only the government can clarify how much infrastructure is required and how much time it would take.”
Attack On Modi Government Over Unemployment, Education
During his press conference, Yadav also attacked the Modi government over rising unemployment and political interference in education. He alleged that due to BJP’s policies, education is becoming increasingly inaccessible for the poor and middle class. “Commission rackets have flourished under the government, and officials have crossed all limits,” he said.
On Attack Against MP Ramji Lal Suman
Yadav alleged that the recent attack on Bulandshahr MP Ramji Lal Suman was carried out because he raised his voice against the oppression of Dalits. He claimed that the attackers had full support from the government and the DGP. “The CM and DGP are alike,” he remarked.
Allegations Of Targeted Attacks Against Dalit And Backward Communities
Yadav further alleged that under the BJP government, PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) communities were being specifically targeted. He cited examples:
-
In Allahabad, a Dalit was burnt alive.
-
In Varanasi, a man from the Patel community was shot dead.
-
In Jaunpur, a Maurya community member was chased and killed.
-
In Azamgarh, a man was killed just for raising the slogan “Jai Bhim.”
He concluded by saying, “The government is using Thar SUVs and bulldozers as symbols of fear while certain castes are being allowed free rein because their people are in power at every level.”
