Ranchi: As the protest by aspirants over alleged irregularities in the JPSC-JSSC examinations at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium enters its 20th day, an ambulance provided by the Health Department outside the stadium, staffed with two nurses, has been found lacking in basic medicines, with students on hunger strike having their blood pressure and sugar levels regularly monitored.

Ambulance Unable to Treat Even Minor Ailments

Despite the ambulance facility, protesters say that even minor complaints such as mild illness or headaches go untreated, with the ambulance unable to provide proper medication. Aspirants Chandan Kumar and Kamlesh Kumar have reportedly had deteriorating health for the past two days but have continued to remain at the protest site to sustain the movement.

Students Allege Only Paracetamol and ORS Given Regardless of Illness

Chandan Kumar said that after his health worsened, he consulted a doctor who diagnosed symptoms resembling typhoid, but when he visited the mobile ambulance stationed at the stadium, he was given only paracetamol and ORS before being sent back. Several ailing aspirants say that regardless of the actual illness, the government-provided ambulance only offers paracetamol and ORS, even though doctors elsewhere have identified conditions like typhoid among them. Protesters say they feel let down by the government system, whether related to employment opportunities or basic healthcare.

Students Avoid Sadar Hospital Over Fears of Being Kept from Returning

Aspirants say they are unwilling to seek treatment at Sadar Hospital, whose healthcare standards have repeatedly been questioned, fearing that if they go there, they may be prevented from returning to the protest site under the pretext of illness. Notably, several aspirants were injured during the Assembly gherao two days earlier on August 10.
