New Delhi, Oct 16: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday launched the country’s first Hindi version of MBBS course books in Bhopal. With this, Madhya Pradesh became the first state to start the MBBS course in Hindi language.
“Today is a very important day for the education sector of India. Whenever history will be written in the coming days, this day will be written in golden letters,” said Shah while launching the textbooks.
Shah unveiled the textbooks of medical biochemistry, anatomy and medical physiology subjects for the MBBS students at the event in the presence of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and state Medical Education minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang.
“Through the new National Education Policy, PM Modi has given more emphasis to the mother language of students. This is a historic decision,” said Shah.
CM Chouhan at the launch said that Shah has brought a new dawn in the lives of children of the poor. It will help those who could get admission to medical colleges but were caught in the web of English and many times could not pass exams and left their studies, he added.
A team of 97 experts have been working on the preparation of books for the last few months. They have been translating the book from English to Hindi. State medical education minister Vishwas Sarang reviewed the work in each step. Initially, three subjects have been selected to be taught in Hindi including Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry.
Earlier some CMs of other states had voiced their reservations against the purported move of the Centre to employ Hindi as a medium of instruction in key institutions in the Hindi-speaking States.
