New Delhi, Dec 20: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) informed the Lok Sabha today that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is looking into eleven cases in which a connection between terrorists, drug traffickers, and smugglers headquartered both in India and overseas has been discovered.
In a written response to questions from Bahujan Samaj Party leader Kunwar Danish Ali, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai stated that of the 11 cases, two were filed in 2019, four in each of 2020 and 2021, and one this year.
“NIA is investigating 11 cases in which nexus between terrorists, drug smugglers and traffickers based in India and abroad have been found,” Rai said.
A total of 112 accused have been detained in these 11 cases, according to the minister, and 115 suspects have been charged in 10 of the cases.
Based on the complaint that the Special Cell of the Delhi Police filed on August 4, the NIA is investigating the connection between gangsters and terrorism. On August 26, the organisation reregistered the lawsuit.
The NIA has conducted more than 100 raids throughout the nation so far this year as part of its investigation into a possible gangster-terrorist nexus. 52 locations in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, and the National Capital Region were searched by the NIA in September (NCR).
Some of the most desperate gang leaders and their associates, both in India and overseas, who are organising and carrying out such criminal and terrorist actions have been found and arrested.
