Kolkata: West Bengal Governor Dr. CV Ananda Bose described the arrest of Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, as the “beginning of the end.” This arrest, carried out by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday, is linked to alleged financial misconduct at the medical institution.
Governor Bose, speaking to PTI on Monday night, emphasized the significance of this development without providing further details. His statement comes shortly after his meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. During the meeting, Bose handed over a petition from the parents of a deceased woman medic from RG Kar Hospital, urging for a swift investigation into their daughter’s death.
An official from Raj Bhavan confirmed that the parents had written a letter to Amit Shah, through the Governor, requesting an expedited probe into the tragic incident.
The case has garnered widespread attention following the discovery of the body of a woman medic, who was raped and murdered, in the seminar room of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. The arrest of Dr. Sandip Ghosh and three others by the CBI marks a significant step in the ongoing investigation into the case.
