Ranchi: During the Jharkhand Assembly budget session, MLA Arup Chatterjee raised concerns about minority-run schools in the state not receiving benefits under government education schemes meant for students.
Question Over Exclusion From Welfare Schemes
Chatterjee questioned why students studying in minority educational institutions are not receiving benefits such as free textbooks, notebooks, and assistance under the Chief Minister Scholarship Scheme. He pointed out that despite being enrolled in recognized institutions, these students are being deprived of basic educational support available to others.
Government Explains Reason For Exclusion
Responding to the issue, Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu said that the concerned minority schools have not yet been granted the status of government schools. Because of this, they are currently not eligible to receive direct benefits under certain government welfare schemes.
Government Promises To Explore Solutions
The minister assured the Assembly that the government will consider measures to address the issue so that students studying in minority schools can also receive appropriate assistance. He said the government is committed to improving educational opportunities and will examine possible steps to extend benefits while keeping students’ welfare in mind.
