Ranchi: The tenth day of the Jharkhand Assembly budget session witnessed chaos as opposition BJP legislators protested against alleged corruption and deteriorating law and order in the state. The uproar escalated to the point where one MLA was marshalled out of the House.

Opposition Raises Corruption And Law-Order Issues

Soon after the House proceedings began, BJP MLAs entered the well holding posters and raised slogans against the state government. Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi alleged that corruption in Jharkhand had reached alarming levels and the law-and-order situation was continuously deteriorating.

He referred to a recent incident in Dumka where leaders of a labour union were shot, claiming that the accused had still not been arrested. Marandi also cited incidents from Rajrappa and Giridih, mentioning that the conduct of the Giridih Deputy Commissioner during Women’s Day celebrations had also raised questions.

Demand For Detailed Discussion In Assembly

Marandi accused the government of being deeply involved in corruption, saying no work in the state was possible without paying money. He demanded a detailed debate in the Assembly on corruption and the state’s law-and-order situation, alleging that the administration was being run by bureaucrats rather than the elected government.

Government Says Situation Under Control

Responding to the allegations, the Finance Minister said the matter could have been discussed if the Business Advisory Committee had decided to include it in the agenda. He asserted that the law-and-order situation in the state was under control and that the government was taking strict action against corruption wherever cases emerged.

He also invited the opposition to present specific cases in the House, assuring that the government would act on them.

Chaos Leads To MLA Being Marshalled Out

During the heated exchange, tensions rose between ruling and opposition members. Amid the commotion, Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu reportedly signaled to Tiwari Mahto, prompting him to enter the well of the House. BJP legislators also joined him, intensifying the disruption.

Angered by the situation, the Speaker ordered Tiwari Mahto to be marshalled out of the Assembly. However, after intervention by the Finance Minister, he was later allowed to return to the House.
