Ranchi, Oct 25: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi on Tuesday requested the Jharkhand government to send a proposal to the central government to rename Jasidih railway junction as Baba Baidyanath junction.
In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the BJP leader Marandi said that Jasidih junction was earlier known as Baidyanath junction. He said that as per the railway record of the period 1874 to 1884, the junction was referred as Baidyanath junction. He said that the general manager of the Eastern Railway also confirmed this fact.
Baba Baidyanath Dham temple situated in Deoghar district is an important religious place which is included among twelve Jyotirlinga of the country. The temple is visited by lakhs of devotees across the country and during the month of Shraavana the witness an unexpected surge of devotees.
The temple is situated about five km from Jasidih railway station.
