Dhanbad, Sept 14: Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Dhanbad has signed an MoU with the Information and Library Network Centre (INFLIBNET) Gandhinagar (Gujarat) to promote and facilitate the research work of scholars.
INFLIBNET Centre Gandhinagar is an autonomous inter-university centre of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The institution promotes and facilitates library and information facility.
A BBMKU official said that the tie-up will allow the scholars of the university to access the research theses of scholars who have already been awarded PhD by Indian universities. It also enables the university to share the PhD theses of its scholars with INFLIBNET after theses are awarded PhD.
The tie-up with INFLIBNET would also help in checking copies of other research papers by scholars. As the university uploads theses of its research scholars on INFLIBNET, the Gandhinagar Centre would immediately clear whether the thesis is original or the write-up has been copied from others.
Present senior professors and retired faculty members of BBMKU have hailed the step of BBMKU and said that this would help in getting national as well as international recognition for research work.
Dr DK Giri, Department of Physics cum nodal officer of this project said that credit goes to Vice-Chancellor (Dr Sukhdev Bhoi) for tying up with INFLIBNET Centre. “He is serious about the upliftment of teaching and research work of the university and this is one of the steps of his mission “, said Dr DK Giri.
Dr Himanshu Shekhar Choudhary, head of the English department said that it is a landmark step for the development of university teaching and research work of students as well as scholars. Now theses of scholars would be uploaded on a national portal and they would get access to the digital library of the country to obtain information.
“The University could have been associated with INFLIBNET two years ago but due to the pandemic it was delayed”, said Dr Himanshu Shekhar Chaudhary.
Former dean of social science and university head of the department of economics Prof SKL Das said any university is recognized by its research skills’ development. Moreover, the research work of the university also keeps significance in NACC grading. “Most of the universities in Jharkhand lag behind in research work, but now BBMKU faculty members and research scholars would get the wing to excel,” said Prof Das.
