Dhanbad, April 9: On the directive of the National Medical Commission (NMC), a three-member committee of Binod Bihari Mahto Koyalanchal University (BBMKU) Dhanbad inspected Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) for assessing faculty and infrastructure to increase 100 MBBS seats from 50 seats.

The team comprising  BBMKU dean of medicine Dr. J R Prasad,  dean of science Dr. Shailendra Kumar Sinha, dean of education Dr. JN Singh along with NMC nodal officer Dr. Ravi Bhushan inspected OPD, emergency, library, blood bank, wards, hostels, and other available infrastructure.

The team members expressed satisfaction over the available infrastructure and faculty members required for 100 MBBS seats and said that the university will send its consent report soon.

SNMMCH principal Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Prasad said that NMC has sought detailed reports including consent of affiliation from the university for increasing 100 MMBS seats from 50. So, a team of BBMKU inspected the institution.

“SNMMCH has enough facility to house 100 MBBS seats. Permission for NMC should have been given in 2022. But we are surprised that we did not get it. However, this time institution’s hope is full to get it,” he said. The principal said the college would soon submit a fee of Rs 5 lakh for inspection of NMC to get permission.

Hospital superintendent Dr. Arun Kumar Barnwal, Prof (Dr) UK Ojha, and other senior faculty members were present on the occasion to brief the university team on available facilities.
