MANOJ SINHA

Ramgarh, Sept 8: Noted coalfield of Jharkhand, Bhurkunda, remained closed on Thursday in protest against the notice of CCL. Notably, CCL has issued show-cause notices to the shopkeepers built on CCL land.

Political parties and businessmen of the Bhurkunda region together called for a market shutdown. The effect of ‘Bhurkunda bandh’ by political parties and businessmen was visible from the early morning . All the shopkeepers organised a general meeting before CCL GM Barka-Syal and handed over the demand letter.

Almost all the shops of Bhurkunda coalfield remained closed since morning. The leaders of the political parties were seen protesting against this decision of CCL by gathering at places due to which common people had to face trouble.

Closure of the shops also had a commercial impact as businesses worth lakhs came to a standstill.
