New Delhi, Dec 20: The ‘Delete for Everyone’ function in WhatsApp is a lifesaver. Once a text has been sent and received, you can utilise it to remove it. You always have the choice between ‘Delete for Everyone’ and ‘Delete for Me’ when you want to delete a communication. The user frequently selects ‘Delete for me’ in place of ‘Delete for Everyone.’ Therefore, they are unable to delete that text for everyone. In order to address these issues, WhatsApp has now introduced a new ‘Accidental Delete’ tool. New users are already receiving the new feature.
Users will have a five-second opportunity to reverse their decision to delete a message first for themselves before doing so for everyone else. This feature will be referred to as ‘accidental delete.’ All Android and iPhone users will be able to access this new option, according to WhatsApp.
“Delete for Me” We’ve all been there, but now you can UNDO when you accidentally delete a message for you that you meant to delete for everyone!,” WhatsApp made this announcement on Twitter.
Some Android and iOS users took part in WhatsApp’s beta testing in August, according to a report by feature tracker WABetaInfo.
In August, WhatsApp extended the window for erasing messages that had been sent in error to more than two days. Before that, users had a window of one hour, eight minutes, and 16 seconds in which to undo a mistakenly sent message on the Meta-owned instant messaging platform.
This change happened after the platform added privacy tools to provide users with more control over their discussions and more privacy. This included managing who may see you are online, leaving group chats abruptly, and disabling screenshots in view-only messages.
Other capabilities already provided by WhatsApp include the ability to ban and report problematic chats, end-to-end default call and message protection, disappearing messages, end-to-end encrypted backups, and two-step verification.
