Dhanbad, Dec 20: After the completion of the mop-up round of the 2022-2023 academic sessions, 11 MBBS seats remained vacant in the state-owned medical colleges.
As per the official record, three MBBS seats each are still vacant in Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) Jamshedpur, Medinirai Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) Palamu and Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) Hazaribag while one seat each is vacant in Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital (PJMCH) Dumka and Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad.
SNMMCH Dhanbad has only 50 MBBS seat permission while the other four medical colleges of the state government have 100 MBBS seat consent from National Medical Commission (NMC) in 2022-23 sessions.
The admission in charge of all the five medical colleges said, “The vacant seats would be filled up in stray vacancy round that is likely to start from December 24.”
The principal of Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital, Dr Arun Kumar Choudhary said, “ 99 seats out of 100 have been filled up and only one seat of the All India quota is vacant. The candidate had appeared for admission but failed to submit the appropriate documents required for admission.”
“I had given him time to submit the paper but he did not turn up at the scheduled time of admission fixed by NMC,” he added.
SNMMCH Dhanbad also has one vacant seat. Admission in-charge Dr Ganesh Kumar said, “All India quota of central nominee seats have been filled up but one seat of state quota (reserved seat for handicapped) is vacant. 49 out of 50 seats have been filled.”
SBMCH Hazaribag principal cum director of Medical Education of the State health department, Dr SK Singh said that after the completion of the mop-up round one seat of the state quota and two seats of all India quota are vacant. “All these three seats likely to be filled up in the stray round,” he added.
The admission nodal officer of MMCH Palamu, Dr Atul Prakash said that his institution also has three seats vacant. One of the state quotas and two of the All India quotas have to be filled up in a stray vacancy round.
Principal of MGMMCH Jamshedpur, Dr KN Singh said, “Total of three seats (two of state quota and one of All India) are left after mop up round. However, seats reserved for central nominees have been filled up.”
