Patna, Oct 21: Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, asserted on Saturday that the media had misinterpreted his remarks made during the convocation ceremony in Motihari and categorically denied having any intention to associate with the BJP again.

Speaking on Thursday at Mahatma Gandhi Central University’s convocation ceremony in Motihari, Nitish gestured to a BJP leader from the stage and remarked, “All the people we have here, are our friends. You will remain connected to me as long as I live.”

Following Nitish’s remarks, there were rumors in the media that JDU was once more leaning towards the BJP. However, the chief minister of Bihar refuted these rumors outright today, claiming that his remarks were misinterpreted.

The Bihar CM said while clarifying his statement said, “I just wanted to remind the people over there (in convocation) to remember the work which has been done by the state govt in Bihar else people only falsely talk about the central government.”

Earlier, Shakti Yadav of the RJD had stated that “Radha Mohan Singh (of BJP) was sitting in front (during the convocation), so he spoke about his personal relationship. There is no mention of any party. People interpreted him incorrectly.”

The BJP also disavowed the remarks and declared that it was no longer associated with Nitish Kumar.

The Bihar BJP chief Saket Choudhary said, “Nitish Kumar has left, we have asked him to leave. BJP clearly believes that we are together in development but there is a fight on principles. Amit Shah has said that he has no connection with Nitish Kumar”.
