Ranchi, March 11: The bird flu situation is fast returning to normalcy in Jharkhand.

According to an official from the animal husbandry department, there have been no new cases in Jharkhand’s capital since March 3, and Bokaro has been already brought under control.

State animal husbandry director Chandan Kumar supported the fact saying the central team assessed the situation and expressed satisfaction with the control measures.

“As many as 96 birds were culled and over 5000 eggs were destroyed and disposed of in Ranchi after a case of bird flu was detected at the Jail More,” Kumar said

Although the situation is under control, it is unclear when the ban on the sale of chicken will be lifted. A section of the animal husbandry department hinted that it would be ready by Wednesday, but another section said it would take longer because it takes 21 days after the detection of a case of Bird Flu to declare normalcy.

Kumar said the final word in this matter will come from deputy commissioner though the rule is 21 days from isolation.

Amid information of fast returning to normalcy, three-member central team comprising Dr Shibani Lahiri, Dr Sayan Bhattacharya and Dr Somesh Thakur visited Birsa Munda Biological Park for assessment.
