BIT Sindri director becomes external senate member of IIT ISM Dhanbad

Dhanbad, April 13: The Board of IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) has nominated BIT Sindri director Prof DK Singh and two other academic scholars and administrators as external Senate members of the institution for two years’ term.

As per the notification issued by IIT ISM acting registrar cum secretary of the senate Prabodh Pandey,  besides BIT Sindri director Dr DK Singh,  Prof ( Dr) Saurabh Varshney, executive director and chief executive officer (CEO) AIIMS Deoghar and  Vice-chancellor of  Binod Bihari Mahto  Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Dr Sukhdeo Bhoi are other two external senate members.

The acting registrar issued this notification on April  12 on the directive of the IIT ISM  chairman. The external senate members have been nominated as per Section 14 (d) of the Institutes of Technology Act 1961. The trio has been made external senate members for two years term till March 31st, 2025.

This is the second time BIT director Prof DK Singh has accepted to be an external senate member of IIT ISM.  Dr Saurabh Varshney, director  Deoghar AIIMS and BBMKU vice-chancellor  Prof Sukhdeo have been nominated for the first time.

BIT Sindri Director Dr Singh has made BIT Sindri a top-ranked national technical institution in the last two years in terms of academic excellence.
