Dhanbad, May 16: The week-long workshop on ‘Industry Academic Collaborative and Hands-on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)’ began here at BIT Sindri.
The workshop is being jointly organized by the chemical engineering department, BIT Sindri and Shankhya Sutra Lab, the start-up industry of JNCSR, Bengaluru.
Convener of the workshop Dr Ashok Kumar Barnbal, assistant professor, department of chemical engineering said that the workshop focuses on the solution of fundamental benchmark problems along with the recent research fields with the application of the lattice Boltzmann Method in CFD.
“ It is a fast-going topic for senior undergraduates, research scholars and M.Tech students on how to solve industry problems through software”, said Prof Barnbal while addressing the inaugural session of the workshop.
Dr Barnbal said since this is an era of technology-enhanced learning, this workshop may play a crucial role in improving the quality of teaching and learning in technical education.
Guest speaker at the workshop Nishant Soni of Shankhya Sutra Lab, Bengaluru, put up the basic matter of CFD and its importance in real life and in industry. He also shed light on Python Language for scientific computing.
Earlier, HoD, chemical engineering department of BIT Prof Amit Kumar Gupta put up the subject matter of the workshop and made the participants aware of it. BIT Sindri director Dr DK Singh, Coordinator of the workshop Dr Nirupma Prasad also addressed the inaugural session.
“ This workshop is a golden opportunity for the participants especially senior undergraduates, research scholars and M. Tech engineering students to know about new technology,” said Co-convener Dr Diwakar Pandey. Dr Nirupma Prasad and Dr CV Raghunath also addressed the event.
On the occasion, the HoD production engineering department Dr Prakash Kumar, mechanical engineering department HoD Dr Manoj Kumar, Prof Amar Kumar and Prof Ajay Orao of the chemical engineering department were also present.
