Jamshedpur, Oct 25: BJP activities of Mango in Jamshedpur led by Vikas Singh on Monday hit the streets with begging bowl raising money for the installation of concrete electricity poles replacing the bamboo ones.
They went around various places under Mango Notified Area Committee ( MNAC) including Baliguma Bagan Area, Turiabera and Gajadih requesting people to donate for the installation of electricity poles.
” The lives of people residing in several localities in Mango are at risk because of JBVNL’s failure to replace the bamboo poles which support the electricity cables with concrete poles. Despite assurances, JBVNL has failed to install concrete poles. We waited for over six months and finally decided to make a move ourselves for raising money for the electricity poles. We cannot risk lives of the people, ” said Vikas Singh during the drive which continued for three hours.
He said the drive will continue for a fortnight. ” Tomorrow we will continue the drive at Subhas Colony, ” he said.
Notably, quite a few mishaps have taken place in the recent past because of the bamboo structures which support the high tension cables.
BJP leader Vikas Singh also informed that the installation of concrete electricity poles has failed to begin despite the fact that the issue has been brought to the notice of the local deputy commissioner and senior officials of JUVNL, the power conglomerate.
” As the administration and JBVNL failed to initiate any steps in this regard we decided to raise money for the cause, ” he said adding that officials are adopting dilly-dallying tactics.
Apart from the BJP activists the local people and traders also joined in the begging drive.
BJP leader Singh said if required they will also approach big businessmen and industrialists for raising money for the electricity poles.
