Patna, July 10:  The opposition BJP in Bihar on Monday stirred up a commotion in the state assembly by calling for the resignation of Tejashwi Yadav, the Deputy Chief Minister, against whom the CBI has filed a charge sheet in the land for jobs scam.

On the first day of the monsoon session, just after the House had gathered, BJP chief whip Janak Ram got up from his seat and demanded Yadav’s resignation. Yadav was at the time calmly sitting in the treasury benches next to his boss, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

After obituary references, the day’s proceedings were postponed, but the opposition party made it clear that it will continue to press the matter.

“We did not press the matter today in view of the solemnity of the occasion. But during the rest of the session, we will force the government to come clean on corruption”, Leader of the Opposition Vijay Kumar Sinha told reporters outside the House.

“The chief minister seems to have struck a compromise with corruption. He will be held to account for his acts of commission and omission”, said the BJP leader, whose party lost power a year ago when Kumar, the head of the JD(U), left the NDA and joined the Mahagathbandhan

Earlier, in his car, Kumar drove to the assembly alongside his deputy and the latter’s elder brother, Tej Pratap Yadav, who is also a cabinet minister.

However, when he was asked about the BJP’s plans to corner the government during the session, Kumar replied with a smirk “Now leave that aside. You people seem to have been hijacked by one party”.

A portion of the media has been speculating about Kumar’s future course of action since the CBI charge sheet was released last week. Kumar is adamant that “no compromise on corruption, crime, and communalism” will be made.
