Ranchi, Dec.19: The issue of cutting Rubika Paharia into 50 pieces by her lover Dildar Ansari for not accepting Muslim religion remained a matter of discussion on the first day of Jharkhand assembly.

The BJP legislators remained offensive on the issue in the house from the beginning and did not hesitate to raise the issue during the condolence session despite repeated requests of the assembly speaker not to do so in the interest of assembly tradition to not discuss such issue during the condolence session.

Party chief whip Biranchi Narayan said the incident has crossed the limit of barbarism being committed by people of a particular community. He said this incident happened after Ankita was set on fire in Dumka.  Raising the issue the BJP legislator demanded some concrete steps by the state government to deter the rising morale of people of barbaric mentality.

As Narayan alleged a particular community, this was objected by a section of ruling party legislators saying that it was wrong to connect the issue with a particular religion. On which Narayan lost his cool saying and dared the legislators to let the house know who killed Sandhya Topno and how.

Sensing the gravity of the discussion, Chief Minister Hemant Soren intervened and restrained the BJP MLAs  not to do politics on corpses but the latter did not stop and alleged that such an incident is being done under the government’s patronage. BJP MLA Randhir Kumar Singh started shouting standing at his table. On which he was marshaled out.

Congress party MLA Pradeep Yadav did not support the ruckus being created by the BJP but he also condemned the issue saying a legislation is required to hang people of such barbaric mentality publicly. He said that such incidents are not taking place in Jharkhand only but other parts of the country.

Amid uproar, the house passed a condolence proposal remembering those who died after the monsoon session and before the winter session of the assembly. Those who were remembered in the house during the condolence session included Mulayam Singh, Samresh Singh, Tabassum, Syed Sibtey Razi, Saba Ahmed, Devidhan Besra, Amitabh Choudhary, Dhanik Lal Mandal, Raju Srivastava besides others.
