Lucknow, Jan 31: In the Karhal seat of Mainpuri, the BJP has fielded Union Minister SP Singh Baghel against Akhilesh Yadav.

SP Singh Baghel has arrived at the collectorate to register the nomination on Monday.

Notably, Baghel was once a minister and is presently a Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Agra Lok Sabha seat.

Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, filed his nomination for the Karhal seat earlier today.

“Whoever BJP fields from Karhal will lose,” said Akhilesh Yadav.

Interestingly, the Karhal assembly seat is part of the Mainpuri parliamentary constituency represented by party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and has been a SP stronghold since decades.
