On Monday night, afte Singh published a video in which he is purportedly making disparaging remarks about the Prophet Muhammad, protests reportedly broke out in front of the office of city Police Commissioner CV Anand and in other locations throughout Hyderabad.

According to reports, the protesters demanded Singh’s immediate arrest after alleging that he had offended the community. After being brought into prison, they were later transferred to other police stations.

Last week, T Raja Singh, an MLA from the city’s Goshamahal neighbourhood, attempted to disrupt a comedy concert. When he and about 50 followers attempted to arrive at the location of stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui’s gig on Friday to demand that it be cancelled, the police took them into preventive arrest.
