Lal Singh Chaddha, an Aamir Khan film, is currently the subject of a PIL in the Kolkata High Court. On August 23, the case will be heard in the court of Chief Justice Prakash Srivastava.
The PIL calls for a total ban on the movie in Bengal. There has also been a call for police to be stationed outside every theatre, even if the ban is not implemented, as what is shown in LSC can disturb the peace and order in Bengal. The PIL was submitted by attorney Nazia Elahi Khan. She feels that the movie does not adequately portray the Army.
Earlier, some Sanatan Rakshak Sena members protested in Uttar Pradesh and declared that they were adamantly demanding an outright ban on Laal Singh Chaddha. Members of the protest said that Aamir Khan had made fun of and mocked Hindu deities, which is how the protest came to light. Members of the group chanted anti-Advait Chandan slogans and accused the actor of offending their religious sensibilities. The protest was held in front of the IP Vijaya mall in Bhelupur, UP.
