Dhanbad, Jan. 29: Sabitri Devi, wife of BJP MLA Dhulu Mahto on Saturday lodged  a complaint against the district police and the Jharkhand government in the court of  Principal District and Sessions Judge Ram Sharma for human rights abuses.

After filing the case in the court, on behalf of Sabitri Devi, a panel of  senior lawyers, including SN Mukherjee, Videsh Da and Radheshyam Goswamy told media persons that after formation of the JMM-led government in the State ,Dhulu Mahto  has been harassed as he belongs to the BJP and has been opposing wrong policies of the government.

The court has fixed  February 8 for hearing the case.

Sabitri Devi alleged that under political vendetta, the Baghmara MLA is being implicated in old issues by the government to keep in him jail.  “This is violation of Articles 14 and  21 of  the Constitution,” she added.

The MLA’s wife further charged that the senior superintendent of police (SSP) has directed officers in-charge of all the police stations in the district to continue lodging cases against Dhulu Mahto so that he could be  kept  in jail.

“ Following  directive of the SSP,  the officers in-charge of all police stations have been implicating him in false cases,” she said.

The MLA’s wife charged that police are violating  the Supreme Court  ruling by taking him on  remand to keep in jail.
