Seven die, 440 injured after 5.9-magnitude earthquake strikes Iran

New Delhi, Jan 29: At least seven people were killed and 440 were injured on Saturday after a 5.9-magnitude earthquake shook northwest Iran close to the Turkish border, according to Iranian media.

According to state media, rescue teams from Iran’s West Azerbaijan province were sent to the area, and hospitals were placed on notice.

State TV was informed by an emergency official that snow was falling in some of the affected locations, along with cold temperatures and some power outages.
