New Delhi, Dec 27: The BJP has decided to run against the AAP in the election for mayor and deputy mayor of Delhi, making yet another U-turn. Despite making conflicting claims in various situations following its defeat in the civic election, the BJP has chosen its candidates for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) vacancies.
Rekha Gupta, a Shalimar Bagh-based BJP councillor, has been chosen to run for mayor, and Kamal Bagri, a candidate from the Ram Nagar ward, will run for deputy mayor.
The AAP won 134 of the 250 seats up for election on December 4, ending the BJP’s 15-year hold on the Delhi civic body. The BJP finished second with 104 seats but the party’s IT department head Amit Malviya had to suggest the mayor’s election is still an open game.
