Ranchi, Jan 27: The BJP has questioned the Jharkhand government with the figures of the ongoing central schemes in Jharkhand and the funds received by the state from the centre. BJP state president Deepak Prakash on Thursday said that during the tenure of the Modi government, Jharkhand received three times more money than the grant received during the UPA government.
Prakash said that the state government is not able to spend the money provided by the centre. Instead, they blame the central government and state lack of funds from the Centre and Covid to validate their failures.
He further added that Jharkhand had received Rs 35,998 crore from the Centre under the UPA government between 2009-14, while the state received Rs 89,648 crore from the NDA government between 2014 and 2019. That is, Jharkhand received three times more than the UPA government. At the same time, the BJP government has increased transfers and grants from the centre to the state by 250 and 222 per cent in 5 years as compared to the UPA government.
Deepak Prakash said that in 2020-21, the Centre transferred Rs 2144 crore 34 lakh to Jharkhand. Out of this, Rs 1572 crore 17 lakh was also given in advance to the government in the form of a present share. During the Corona period, the state’s GST and income tax collection decreased, which was compensated by the central government in the form of a grant. Yet this government is accusing the Centre of not providing any money.
He further added that the central government is also spending crores of rupees on infrastructure in the state. The Central Government is spending Rs 44,819 crore on 14 projects for the construction of 1314 km-long roads in Jharkhand. The central government is spending Rs 1455 crore on the 169 km-long railway line. Meanwhile, the Central Government is spending Rs 16,424 crore on a 1285 km double rail line in Jharkhand. In the field of energy, the Centre has given Rs 147 crore to the state, claimed Prakash. On the other hand, the Jharkhand government has not been able to provide benefits to even 10-12 per cent of the residents of the state from the ‘Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal Yojana’. The state president said that the present state government is moving towards financial anarchy.
Prakash also mentioned the status of centrally sponsored schemes in Jharkhand and put forth their figures. He said that 22,43,746 people benefitted from the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana while 62,14,856 people got the benefit of Suraksha Bima Yojana. There were 89,64,448 account sanctions under PM Mudra Yojana. Wherein 2,316 accounts have been opened in Standup India and Rs 513.64 crore has been approved. Under the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme, 2,94,433 accounts have been approved by the Center. Under PM Street Vendor Atmanirbhar Nidhi, the centre has sanctioned 29,406 accounts, out of which only 27,190 account holders in Jharkhand received loans. At the same time, 8,83,433 metric tons of rice, 2,40,94,622 metric tons of wheat and 44,533 metric tons of pulses were given by the Centre for distribution in Jharkhand under PM Garib Kalyan Yojana, but these grains were apparently black-marketed in Jharkhand.
